Mistell's Tales (Current Server RP Campaign)

Post by Sandarie »

((After mission story: Campaign Date 10/1/2017))

Plopping down heavily into a chair in her work area, the station manager leaned forward to fold her arms on her desk and laying her head on them. A sigh escaped her lips while recounting the events of the past few days. It all started with the arrival of a quirky droid who apparently was, and still is, looking for teams to help protect the shipments of his master’s cargo. In an of itself, that wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for a space station such as Port Jato. Jato was really more of a shadowport, turning a blind eye to illicit activities, clandestine meetings, and the like. Heck she was working to create some private meeting areas to facilitate such activities, including sections where special cargo could be safely secured.

Shortly after the droid’s arrival and solicitation of her customers for escort and protection services,  the group out to harm the droid arrived in the Mistell demanding the droid be turned over to them. The type of clients she catered to didn’t take too well to being interrupted with a possible job being negotiated and the firefight broke out. A fire fight! Dammit! Not on her station! It was one of the few things Halyn made sure she understood, keep the activities to things that wouldn’t destroy his station!

“Meh,” she muttered into her arms, “Gotta get the new security team trained and settled. Get the new meeting rooms set up too, maybe that would have kept the scum away from the business activities being conducted.” A little bump against the blue hair covering her head startled her. Looking up she found a durni had landed on her desk. “Gah, seriously? My desk now?” Looking about she noticed several of the durni’s had escaped their pen and were nibbling on the fruits and veggies she was attempting to grow.

“Ugh! I’ll deal with you bunch later, right now, I have to get some secure rooms set up.”

Empire in Flames successfully launched its first roleplay campaign last Sunday. The story continues on Sunday with the droid, Custos, looking for teams of 3 to help escort his master’s cargo and keep it from being stolen while enroute to it’s destination. Two teams have formed so far and more are encouraged to be created. Each team will split a 1 million credit payment for services rendered at the successful completion of the campaign.

The staff of EiF are all avid roleplayers themselves and we are excited about bring the campaign to our community.  While EiF does not consider itself a roleplay server, it does think of itself as a friendly roleplay environment and it attracts a large number of people interested in roleplaying.

Port Jato is developing into a joint effort between the staff and community. The nearly completed arena has been decorated entirely by a member of our Community, Doreen. She has also set up Megan’s work area, complete with a test kitchen, working stills for her custom brews, and a garden. Other players are creating other sections of Jato, such as our arrival checkpoint and medical center.  (see this Friday Feature to learn more about features and plans for Port Jato http://www.empireinflames.com/?p=474 .)

((After mission story: Campaign Date 10/8/2017))

Stepping through the docking port onto the deck of the CR-90, the manager of Port Jato looked about with a critical eye. The petite Zeltron wanted to ensure nothing of the dead bodies from the mission several days earlier remained. One of the storage rooms held all of the crew’s personal effects, while another room had all the uniforms and other clothing

Stepping lightly, she made her way to one of the cargo bays, Lift droids, anti-gravs, and a couple protocol droids bustled about searching through the rest of the ship for anything not in use by the ship. Spare parts, furniture, and food supplies mostly. This last item was of particular interest to the chef. She was planning a supply run to Naboo in a couple weeks and wanted to see if anything from the ‘vette met her exacting standards. A few things she instructed her Quartermaster droid to destroy. “Meh, how did these beings even stay alive eating this stuff,” she muttered to herself. The droid responded, unaware Megan was talking to herself, “The nutritional value of these supplies meets the minimum quality necessary to sustain life.” “ugh!,” Megan responded, “I wasn’t asking you! I was just … ya know, nevermind what I was doing. Get rid of this pile over here.”

Megan continued sorting through the supplies, pleasantly surprised to see a number of items she would be able to make use of, even if to feed the livestock on the station. Pulling out her datapad she starting talking into it, recording her thoughts.

“If we keep the ship, we’ll need a crew, especially a captain. We could also sell it to the highest bidder, use the credits for Jato. A third option would be to strip it down and use the parts.” She paused the recording, realizing she was at the large cargo bay with the other items not being used by the ship currently. “I’ll just let the coatrack make this choice. Maybe.”

----
OOC:
The teams hired by Custos managed to secure a Corvette while protecting the droid’s cargo. As a whole, they choose to let Jato have the ship. A very successful mission overall with little damage to any of the teams. Except maybe a few scrapes and bruises here and there. Hopefully Custos will return to give the teams the rest of their payout!

“And send the cleaning crew back to the Untold Bounty to clean up the bodies again. I’m sure they have been picked through already, but salvage anything useful and put it in the personal effects room before disposing of corpses. ” Blowing a long stream of air from between her lips, Megan flipped through the ever present datapad while discussing the tasks needing to be accomplished to the station’s CR-90 with her quartermaster droid.

“I need to hire some engineers to fix the engines, Sepe destroyed too.” She ticked off another item needing to be handled, “And I need to review the data Allison got from the ship’s navicomputer, so I can decide if we head to Coruscant or Chandrila. Need to find out what’s significant between those two. What makes either one more special than all the other locations UB has been to?”

“Bleh. I suppose I need to hire a skeleton crew to fly her too, don’t you think, QM?” Megan didn’t wait for a response from the droid, as she continued going over all the items in her list. “Dammit, need a set of weapons specialists to fix the turbolasers and to be available to man them when needed.”

“I suppose the superficial cleaning can happen later. We can still fly her with blaster scoring. I think I need to get some slicers in, though, to change the passwords. Can’t have Serpo gaining access to her again.”

Her eyes flicked up to the patient droid, as she let out a long sigh “And then there is the matter of our guest. I wonder how Nos and Tay are doing with him.” Shaking her head slightly to clear it, she mutters, “This isn’t the backwater asteroid fueling station I used to run….”

----
OOC:
The Iktotchi pirate the mercenaries on Jato have fought for the past two weeks, showed up on Jato once more. He made a concerted effort to purchase the Corvette the teams acquired the previous week while protecting the droid, Custos’ cargo. It appears it was merely diversionary as he was using access codes to get his pirates onto the Untold Bounty to commandeer it. Many of the patrons of Jato chased after the pirate leader, only to discover a full contingent of pirates on board. The group spread out in teams. Pirates were powering up the ship’s turbolasers to destroy Port Jato. One group took out the lower set, while another disabled the upper. Sepe, who usually ran around barefoot, realized the ship was powering up via the vibrations she was feeling through the floor. Using her axe, she stabbed it into the heart of the engines, effectively leaving the ship dead while still docked at Jato.

Meanwhile the leader of the pirates, Serpo, wiped the navicomputer clean. He escaped in one of the ship’s escape pods. Allison, Nos, Cotan, Sahir, and Megan were lost in the map room, when Allison and Megan realized one of them was a hook into the navicomputer. Allison used her skills to get into the system. She found a backup of the computer’s memory and was able to restore it, thus learning that there were two significant locations in it. Coruscant and Chandrila.

While Megan spends time cleaning up the new bodies left on the ‘vette and getting the ship flyable again, the team needs to decide where they want to go to continue their pursuit of the pirate leader.

The short Zeltron rubbed the back of her head, as if attempting to make a headache go away. Which I’m actually trying to do. An escaped durni sat on her desk, mocking her. Sticking out her tongue at it, she shooed it off her desk before turning back to her work. Muttering under her breath, she shuffled through the three datapads in front of her. There were other stacks of datapads, of course, but these three had her full attention. She color coded them, just to keep them straight.

Blue was for Port Jato. It had all the data for running the station. She had hired a bit of staff and had Thal on retainer to provide more. “OT,” she said to the quartermaster droid, “Arrange to pick up the load lifters from Thal down on Rori, please.” The droid responded, “Oh, mistress, your worshipfulness, I would be honored to work with my creator again to seek that which you require.”

“Ugh! And remind me to send him a holo mail asking him to reprogram your personality while you are there!” The station manager rubbed the back of her head again. She looked over the reports of the progress on various projects, as the station was slowly being furbished with the needed equipment. The flight control center was definitely a major need, as the station was getting busier by the day. She made a note to search out more control consoles. She really didn’t want to rip any out of the Untold Bounty.

Thinking about the CR-90 the station recently acquired, Megan turned to the green datapad. Thumbing through the debriefing she’d gotten from Sepe she just shook her head, which caused the headache to throb a little more in pain. The trip to Coruscant, the Imperial capital, started out uneventful. Nos, one of her security team, flew the Corvette to the planet and she was able to transmit the clearance codes Allison had found in the ship’s navicomputer to get them past the planetary defenses.

As soon as the Untold Bounty was cleared to land in the Commercial District, a strange message came through from another source. Likely this was the Iktotchi Pirate leader’s contact. Once they arrived, the team spread out and with so many having never actually been to Coruscant before, they were dazzled by all the lights and sounds. Megan lots sight of many of them, but a large contingent headed straight for the diner: a diner with a bar and exclusively alien clientele, which surprised the Zeltron a bit.

Sepe, always one for action, started questioning people, looking for anyone who could give them information. Which came in the form of a contact in the Entertainment District. Megan just shook her head at this memory. She’d lost control of more of the team when they go there. A bunch headed straight for the bar, while others milled around outside. Some never managed to make to the entertainment district at all. Megan never did find out what happened to them.

While awaiting the results of Sepe’s meeting, the groups of people milling around outside the cantina were attacked by Black Sun thugs. While the Jato mercs were able to handle the onslaught, it was still a little disconcerting - especially after Sepe’s news. She’d practically accepted a contract from the man inside the Cantina, who was a Vigo from a different Black Sun faction and the target of the thugs the Jato crew had slapped down.

Shaking her head, then instantly regretting it, she sipped some tea QTR-MSTR ordered for her. Thumbing through the third, red datapad she let out a deep sigh. This one held the contents of the Untold Bounty’s navicomputer. She stared at a set of coordinates and a set of planetary defense codes. Not the ones for Coruscant, but rather another capital: Chandrila, the current capital of the fledgling New Republic.

Megan wanted answers. She wanted to neutralize the threats to Jato. She was pretty sure her boss would want her to do this too. He didn’t like loose ends and certainly didn’t like his property being threatened, and even more hated his property damaged.

Maybe tonight those who showed up to the meeting she’d called would be able to help her plan the next steps. Maybe.

OOC:
The direction of the campaign will be determined by the IC planning meeting Megan is holding in the Jato meeting area. It’s located on the upper level. Hang a left when you get off the elevator. Meeting is on Wednesday, 10/25/2017 at 9:00 pm EST. Megan will likely have cake and a bartending droid available. Everyone is invited, even if you haven’t been able to attend any of the Sunday server events.

It took two days for the Port Jato manager’s headache to subside. She wasn’t used to dealing with so many issues all at once. Now all these people with their opinions and desire to help and protect. Not just protect her and the station. Heck most of them were just in it for the profits, but to protect themselves. Something she definitely understood

Muttering, “Ya know, I didn’t sign on for all of this.” Not that were was anyone around to listen, she just kinda needed to hear herself say that.

Their last trip had been to Chandrila, it was a little crazy as the different groups went to various locations. The Senate team didn’t turn up anything useful. Mon Motha was speaking eloquently, according to Sandarie, about holding new Senate elections and soon. The Zabraki Senator told the Jato representatives that the New Republic’s military was off planet somewhere getting ready for some action against the Empire. Nothing that helped Jato. Sandarie, a known associate of the former rebellion had gathered a team which included a current Senator Te’he. The blue Twi’lek, no getting any leads about the pilots turns to Senator Te’he, asking if she had any ideas or contacts that could help the Jato situation. Te’he’s only suggestion was to liberate a former Pirate Leader who was currently being held on Dathomir.

The team who checked for leads in the cantinas ran into some bad luck and got into trouble with a Marauder. At least it appeared to have been bad luck. The Marauder was with a group of pirates and he had been sent to meet with Serpo, but he was late. The same Marauder was dumped on Jato.a couple days later along with a tracker Ghalal had shoved down his throat while on Chandrila.

Megan reviewed the reports from her head of Security, Nosolee Prudii. The man was scanned and the track was found inside him. The station’s doctor and purveyor of fine timepieces, Sahir, performed several procedures upon the Marauder and the device was retrieved and delivered to her. The man was taken to the security offices under the protection of Prudii and questioned by Allison.

The Zeltron started rubbing her temples about this time, as she continued reading more of the report on the incident. During Allison’s questioning it was learned that a female pirate Rys was in charge of the Marauders and pirates she led were hijacking ships around the Jato area looking for something. That’s about all they got out of the man before Allison’s techniques killed him.

The real lead came from the group who checked out the Med Center. A dead-drop on Rori, at the Hutt Outpost was their most promising course of action. The Hutt Outpost had been used as a Rebel base prior to the destruction of the Death Star. The rebels at Zephyr base had abandoned it and the Hutts moved in, as it’s location was close to spice mines.

Megan leaned back in her chair thinking about the meeting she’d just left. The Jato Mercs, which is how she’d started to think of those who were helping her, started to polarize when the Dathomir situation was brought up. She noted those who’d had a previous allegiance to the Empire and those who’d been active in the Rebellion. Heck, some of these people were still actively involved in the Empire or the New Republic. Megan realized she’d need to tread very carefully around the issue of liberating the pirate.

So, off to Rori the Jato Mercs would go.

(After missions story: Campaign Date 11/5/2017)

Megan traveled down dirtside to check on her restaurant on Taanab, it had been awhile since she’d been there and while her staff was excellent, they needed to know she was still around and accessible to them. She loved her little restaurant. The place was usually very busy which made her smile and feel like she have something right in the galaxy. Sitting downstairs in a quiet corner made her feel like she wasn’t way out in the open. She preferred the closed in, safe feel of the station to the agrarian openness of Taanab. This room was her favorite. Soft music, the fish in the tank, excellent food and drink. Yes, this was perfect.

With a sense of calm finally descending through her, she pulled out the red datapad. It housed the reports from the five teams and their experiences on Rori. Thumbing the tablet on, she began to read.

-----

After Action Report

Sahir D’Vus – as dictated to “Cashier”CA-5H-R

Sahir and friends travelled via public transport to the Hutt Outpost on Rori. Sahir does not much care for public transport as the cushions on the seats are always too worn and don’t provide adequate support for the lower back, plus there always seems to be an unusual aroma. Sahir would have preferred to take the Credit Sink but instead it was recommended that Sahir leave it docked at Port Jato with Sahir’s combat droids on alert. Sahir has spent considerable credits outfitting his ship with the finest lower back support that credits can buy. Sahir sees no point in suffering lower back pain after a journey through hyperspace. Why Sahir remember this one time before he had the Credit Sink that… *there is a series of mechanical beeps* …but Megan does not care about lower back pain, she has asked Sahir for an action report – not an ergonomic assessment of the public transport. Though Sahir would be most pleased to make one and send it along to both the New Republic *as well as* the Empire. Seating that uncomfortable should be criminal.

Upon arrival at the outpost on Rori, Sahir sought out the dead drop location to make contact with the Rorigungans, but instead found a young Feeorin. Imagine Sahir’s great surprise when that Feeorin was majordomo for none other than Borvo the Hutt, and when Borvo was entertaining none other than the pirate Serpo. Serpo reminded the mighty Borvo of their agreement for safe passage away, and Serpo was allowed to leave without incident.
Sahir has not seen Borvo in a number of years – and double to Sahir’s great surprise the benevolent Borvo remembers the great surgical service that Sahir performed for him those years ago. While it would violate Sahir’s code to divulge the specific details of the medical service that Sahir performed for Borvo, let me tell you that… *there is a series of mechanical beeps* …Yes, Cashier. Sahir should proceed with the report.

After a brief discussion with his friend Borvo, Sahir agreed that the debt between Borvo and Sahir would be settled for information about Serpo’s actions on Rori, and it was discovered that Serpo was on Rori to help stop the Rorigungans from interfering with the spice mining operations as well as the shipping operations of said spice by various factions. While others went to various places to investigate leads, Sahir volunteered to stay behind to chat with his friend Borvo
.
As other left, Borvo invited Sahir, Miss Jennivive and the New Republic sympathizer woman that Sahir was not introduced to in for some Hutt hospitality and business negotiations. Mighty Borvo asked whom Sahir and friends were representing, and after some minor introductions, Borvo recommended to Sahir that perhaps Miss Megan should work with Sahir to allow Borvo to send a representative to the station for negotiation of business – involving the transfer of spice, weapons and other various goods. Sahir was going to offer to begin working with Borvo to have his people sent to Jato for surgical needs, but the meeting was interrupted by a jamming signal and the death of Borvo’s majordomo. It was a double cross by the pirate Serpo. That Serpo! He should know better than to invoke the ire of a Hutt.

After a minor skirmish with the initial wave of Serpo’s Norulacs, the outpost was surrounded. It was then that the magnificent Borvo provided Sahir and his friends with refurbished AT-XT walkers that were recovered from the Rebel Base and refurbished by Borvo’s technicians; They were a gift should Sahir and friends eliminate the pirate Serpo’s crew from Rori. After clearing the remaining Norulacs, Sahir and friends set course for the Rorigungan encampment that was surrounded by the Norulacs and under siege. On the trip, Sahir had to remind Miss Jennivive not to scratch her….oh! Sahir forgot the very beginning where he offered to help Miss Jennivive with her hangover. Sahir provided her with a mostly organic cure with a minor side effect of some itchiness – though Sahir warned her to not scratch she…*there is a harsh mechanical beep* …Cashier, you are a taskmaster. Sahir does not know how he would stay focused on this without you.

During the long ride to the Rorigungan encampment, the New Republic Sympathizer woman offered to buy the AT-XTs on their behalf, to which Sahir agreed – pending an appropriate price. The ride was uncomfortable because the seats in these walkers were just awful. Sahir does not understand how the… *there is another hard mechanical beep, followed by Sahir clearing his throat* …We arrived at the Rorigungan encampment and quickly cleared away the Norulacs and their Walkers – then Sahir was redirected to the Spice Mines to trade his AT-XT for information – Sahir is to receive an additional 10% of the pirate Serpo’s bounty *as well as* an additional 8000 credits – an excellent price for a used AT-XT.

----

Megan paused to absorb the information garnered from the verbose station doctor, then tapped the datapad to review the next report.

---

Report from Taylah:

Iet, of the Garyn Raiders, gave us a little information after I sweetened his disposition with my and Nos’ ship repair fund. He confessed that he was approached by someone offering a crew of Norulacs to help with the Garyn raids on spice mines for a percentage of the profits. He seemed concerned that the other raiders might learn of them bringing in the Norulacs and that might cause retaliation. We were attacked by a small group of…either Norulacs or a rival gang…during the conversation. He claimed to know nothing about where they were headquartered, though. I recommended he get the kriff off Rori with the money I bribed him with, otherwise I don’t see him lasting long.

----
Megan thought about the Garyn Raider, idly wondering if he’d managed to get off the Nabooian moon, while tapping to find the next report to peruse. She smiled a bit when she realized it was another report from one of Sahir’s team members.

----

After Action Report

After the groups left, Sahir and company (Jenn & Sevisra) joined Borvo inside his building. Borvo asked Sahir who he represented, to which he replied he represents himself although he is assisting a shadowport run by a Zeltron. Borvo asked if she was a dancer, for he wanted to add to his collection.

Sahir replied no, that she was a businesswomen and that she had a nice setup for smugglers, pirates, and bounty hunters. Borvo posted the question of it being a new channel for spice. Sahir said he would inquire, and it would mean business for everyone.

Right after, Communications were jammed and dozens of Norulac raiders stormed the compound. The initial raiders were defeated by small arms before Borvo boasted he was prepared for such a betrayal. He ordered up 3 AT-XT walker units to which he let the adventurers use to rebel the invaders. Borvo also told them they could keep the walkers if the Norulacs could be defeated on Rori.

Sahir & Co proceeded to defeat all the attackers using the refurbished walker units, before proceeding to the Gungan Camp to assist and break the Norulac seige.

During the travel, Sevisra asked Sahir if she could purchase his walker in the interested of the New Republic, for she was already planning to take her unit back to Kusak Station. However a deal could not be made as Allison's group needed his walker to exchange for information from the Kobolos.

After arriving at the Gungan camp, the walkers defeated all the Norulac raiders, including an AT-AT and AT-ST. Once the camp was cleared and gungans saved, Sahir proceeded to take his walker to the Kobolo group, where it was exchanged for information.

Sevisra called for a New Republic transport to move the AT-XT walker she claimed to Kusak Station, (and I don't know what Jenn would have done with hers.)

----
Megan sipped a lightly fruited glass a wine, her feet tucked beneath her while she curled up in a big overstuffed blue chair. Next she flipped to Ansasor’s report.

----
Borvo the hutt gave us a contact ((unsure why)) to the spice miner Mie Lawoovai who was known to do business with Korbals

We made way to the Korbal Bunker ((they were enemies to me due to days of harassment for recycler parts))

We were ambushed after initial contact with Mie by Norulac pirates likely sent by Serpo.

Allisan and Lea negotiated with Mie for contact information to Serpo's crew by providing Mie with one of Borvo's walkers.

Mie provided the contact info to Allison ((unknown of contents)) after being given the walker.

Have a bad feeling about what the spice miners need the walker for, but said they had no problems with the Gungans, so don't believe they will use it to attack gungans.

---

As she drained her glass, Megan sent the reports out to the Jato Mercs.
