Re: It was a long night
It was a simulation. They were in teams. They all had special weapons. They even had plans.
For both teams their first encounter had them all waking up a bit later in the med bay of the Credit Sink. Pal apologized when they were conscious enough to hear as it reset the stuns on the droids to something much less intense.
Eti was on Thaych Tsanthar's team along with Jenn, Lefty, and Sepe. Other than for some stringing out that had her running a bit more than was safe for anyone, she thought their team did rather well together. They followed Tsathar's direction, they kept an eye on their flanks and rear, they took down their targets. There were a few mishaps, with each of them finding time on the floor in unexpected naps, including herself when a B2 took exception to her, as she was trying to keep Sepe and Tsanthar upright.
The teams remained working separate parts of the station until the third round. Jeil led the other team with Ren, Par, Aeryo, Daradyn, and Nare. Of them, she knew Nare the least, and Aeyro before him. The Nautolan male talked a good game, wore fancy armor, and to his credit he did not fall over. The others she knew well and the teams integrated easily for the last round which they cut through much swifter than either of the two previous. During the debriefing there were a few recurring themes; the need to stick close together for the medics, that while there was teamwork, more would have been nice.
Pal promised similar exercises of the sort in the future which none of them disputed. It also suggested that future drills may not always be on the station.
Two other things were notable. First, the station was still devoid of Imperials, something that was commented on later but very quietly. Second, both Eti and Pal were on their best behaviour towards each other.

((There was no meeting last night though Megan did leave out a spread for anyone that showed up. For the record a few people did, but I had to log early. Sorry for the lack of story.
There will be a campaign on Sunday starting at 9pm ET (usual disclaimer to get there early!), this will be another extermination contract, but of what?

Re: It was a long night
((Due to some RL issues the campaign on Jato did not happen last night. Which simply means we have once again disappointed Hondo with the expediency of our work. He will get over it, I am sure.
Instead our Glorious Benevolent Dictator decreed a night of GCW testing. I am happy to say that for a last minute announcement the attendance and enthusiasm was very satisfying, and bugs were found to be summarily squished. Thank you to all who attended on both sides, and to our Devs who make things happen.
Normal Jato schedule will resume on Thursday. Port Jato planning sessions are on Thursday evenings at 9pm ET. Campaigns are 9pm ET Sundays, arrive by 8:30 please. Other RP up on the station does occur, find (a smuggler) in one of several NPC cantinas with 5500 credits in cash on hand. Have fun!
Art by Parodan, this one I think is Fireside Nap.

Re: It was a long night
Eti walked into the conference room with Jenn and Par. Aimi was already there, her emotions mixed and clamping down when she saw the Nautolan. Alifisno was at the front of the room just as pensive and without Megan or Mouthy at his side. Eti hid her disappointment at not seeing Megan, especially considering she figured Aimi might have the same feeling.
Sometimes she was not sure what she was feeling was her feeling it, or others? No, this was her, she had wanted to talk to Megan, so even if Al and Aimi were not happy the blue haired woman was not present, Eti knew that she herself had the same thoughts. Still she greeted Al cheerfully enough, she did like and trust the man after all, and then took her place at the table to the left of one at the head.
Dino, then Ghaal, arrived not long after that, and they were the last. Alifisno sounded surprised when no more sauntered in, and she thought, disappointed, but he started the meeting as business still had to continue. The task for Hondo was shelved yet again for a later date, Al did not have the Weequay's contact info, or the details for that job.
Instead Aimi had found a company that was was in need of assistance moving supplies. Their own ship was down for repairs, and some of the staff was ill with some sort of fatigue and dizziness. They wanted to contract the Jato mercs to carry the supplies for them from Talus to Corellia and if Eti understood it right, move them into the warehouse as well.
The company was 'You're Sew Loved', and they worked with orphans. There was a question on why would they need mercs? The reply was a job was a job, and this one wanted them in a few days. Al decided that they would use the Y8, with Jenn agreeing to fly it. The rest of them agreed to assemble in a couple days, how hard could it be?

Re: It was a long night
The river, while one of the lazy ones of the planet, could not claim to be cool and despite the hollow that she rested in, nor was it particularly deep. Eti supposed that despite the frequent rains that kept what was ordinarily a lovely sky overcast most the time, the river was warm for being shallow and lazy. This suited her just fine as it meant her hollow made a comfortable bed to replenish her body.
Water for her physiology as she was an aquatic creature and tended to dehydrate easily, sometimes rain was just not enough, especially when properly dressed for the space that she was in. Space itself was drying. While a certain amount of humidity was needed even by humans to be truly comfortable, ships and stations needed to be drier in order to keep the occurrence of deadly molds, bacteria, and viruses down.
The placid rivers of Dantooine held another lure for the young Nautolan woman. Power.
Not power the way Pelistra had wanted it, though the Sith spirit did nearly break Eti in her attempts to glean it from the dark waters of the planet, but rather the soothing, replenishing life force of Dantooine itself. Something that Pelistra did not understand, but that Alisyad had taught Eti, was that Dantooine was generous with it's gifts. One merely had to be patient, and to have not pissed off the spirits of the place.
Agathon certainly had enough in the way of spirits and ghosts, most of which never bothered the living people of the place, and the few that did, eventually either became placated, or bored, or even friendly with the residents. Dantooine was like that too, Alisyad had told her. The planet lived like no other, and had it died the way Aldaraan did, some would be hard pressed to believe the entity had passed. Until they flew through it instead of landing on it.
Aldaraan, he had told her, had also left a ghost if one could see, or feel, such things. A ghost she knew that he felt personally much like other 'survivors'. Eti rolled in the little hollow as a shadow passed over the surface of the water. It was just Nasha, her grand wrix, probably returning from hunting, as Carova was not with her she doubted either of her guardians was up yet. The thought prickled her conscious a bit, they were probably waking up a bit more sore than usual without her healing overnight.
The irony of that was not lost on her. Par, in a constant effort to not 'drain' her of power on the off chance she might 'need it later', had a hard time understanding that healing a fresh wound was easier, and thus took less power than correcting the improper workings of the flesh of an older one. Then there was her Fisherman, who knew very well how hard it was to regather energy once it was released, tried to insist to not want to bother about, or felt he had to hide, his injuries until later. Later often being once she had dropped her focus.
Granted she had trouble with that focus, more often than not it overwhelmed her hiding her own injuries or illness until she collapsed, like Alisyad, once she started to pour and use power, she tended to do a bit too much and simply needed to rest. Last night she refused to accept any of the extra power they offered once they realized that she truly was tired. They needed it themselves, and there was no reason she could see to waste it and have them laid up all the longer for doing so.
She loved them dearly, but sometimes they forgot that in order to protect each other, they also needed to let each of them do their job when it was appropriate for that job to be done. Eti rose up out of the water and teased a robe she had grabbed from the house out from under Nasha, the large cat playfully slapping it back down with her paw until her attention was diverted by the sound of a door closing in the distance. Eti drew the robe on, more for warmth than coverage as she was wearing shorts and a t-shirt, then she picked up the pack she had taken off the cat the night before and headed for their house.
Teamwork. Tsanthar had kept a reasonable grip on the Jato mercs the day before on Corellia, and other than the whole hostage bit and attack by swarms of thugs, the job had proceeded rather smoothly. Eti stopped and giggled, then dropped her pack to cover her face when the giggles tried to edge towards hysterics. What was wrong with her? That had not been her first mission, certainly not the first where the Mandolorian had been in charge of her. No, it was not him, he had been the anchor needed, the steady influence. What then?
What was different about this mission? She stood and looked around the residential section of town. Her flash of panic had roused a father, probably both, but they would be slow to move once they realized she had regathered control. But why the panic? Yesterday had not been their first mission since... No, but that first one had not gone well either, in someways it had been a larger personally physical disaster. "Kessel." Eti nodded acknowledging the masculine thought.
This was the first time since their return that they encountered large groups of hostile people, she had spent a lot of energy trying to not feel them, but still be aware of the team. A team that had been split, then split again, but out of necessity, and within reason. Eti understood the reason, intellectually, that Tsanthar had her stay back with him and Aimi near the ship during each split. Emotionally she agonized over each wound she felt being taken that she could not heal in some way due to the distance.
She was able to quell her worry for the team that had gone with Jeil to some extent. The doctor was a good team leader and while Eti was not sure if she was sensitive in anyway her mundane use of modern medicines was exemplary. Ghaal, Vennie, Iliad that most of them knew really was Bywing anyway, would be a tough group to take out. The majority of Fate stayed to guard the ship; Ren, Par, herself, Aimi, then Tsanthar, with Jenn remaining on board. Not that she or Aimi could do much in the way of battle, though both women knew some self defense.
Aimi's strength was in talking, thinking, negotiating, contacts. Eti had some similar strengths, but where Aimi could manage to fire a blaster if she had too, Eti healed. Whether with the force that she tended to liberally apply even with 'normal' methods, or those methods themselves, the Nautolan once focused, needed to use that focus while she had it. "Breathe." The breath came as demanded, releasing the building tension from the memory. Where did it start?
The ship. Jenn, already nervous at flying anything for Jato, had wanted Eti on the bridge with her. Aimi, Eti, and Jenn were not happy about the amount of droids on board. Ren and Par were unhappy with, but resigned to, being in space and staying conscious. Vennie wanted action, he was simply restless. Iliad was curious and wanted to explore it all, do it all perhaps. Ghaal was not one she could normally read, but she thought she caught a thread of thoughtfulness, perhaps from their earlier conversation. Jeil and Tsanthar were calm, though the doctor kept herself a bit more isolated during the trip. The ship itself was the Untold Bounty Two, a CR-9# Capitol class, in this case a CR-92. Full of droids that Eti was not convinced were not hostile.
Aimi kept insisting, like one of those little console warning beeps, that the bridge had to be cleared. Jenn had not even made it to the bridge yet and Eti was trying to explain that she was wanted there. Some things simply cannot be handled by a droid, like emotional support. Even when Jenn did get there Aimi kept beeping, ignoring the reasoning of the other women. Eti snapped that the droids could shoot her, but she was not going to steal the ship, then she stalked out. She was not generally in the habit of defying orders that made sense, not that this made sense to her, even if there was a real fear that the droids would harm her. Nor did she understand why Aimi would not listen to her, or to Jenn.
She recognized the need to work more on her shields by the time she was sitting next to Ren in the passenger area, she knew too she would have to apologize for her behavior. "Rebel." The sun had stabbed a shaft of light on her at that moment with exquisite timing and she laughed, further releasing tension from the memory. While the trip to Talus had been fretful, the one to Corellia was calmer for her as Vennie had asked her to play. She had used the activity to center herself, add some more layers to her pitiful excuse for shields, and to focus, which was the strongest true shield she had.
They knew they had trouble when they reached the air over Kor Vella. Instead of landing at the starport, their large ship was diverted to a field near the distant shuttleport. Only their ship. The thugs did not waste much time in trying to overwhelm the Jato mercs to take control of the Bounty, the mercs did not waste any time either driving them back. This battle waged for quite a while until the thugs seemingly gave up, leaving their wounded and dead behind. They also left the question of why, and what happened to the contacts from the orphanage that Aimi knew, Janys Kroon and his son Collon? This was when Jeil and her team broke off with the intention of finding the men, and finding out more about what the thugs were after.
The thugs had the Kroon's hostage, they wanted the cargo. Ren theorized it was probably laced with spice. Thaych explained to Eti that any crates the thugs did get were going to be filled with explosives. She then had a terse discussion with Par that while she was fine with blowing up the starport and the thugs, she was not fine with any innocent civilians being harmed in the process. Eventually the mercs and the thugs agreed to exchange the hostages for eight crates, but away from the city. Once everyone and the Kroon's were on board the Bounty, and they had started to lift off, the ship was rocked by what could only have been a violent explosion. Tsanthar had detonated the crates.
Nasha nudged her, bringing Eti back to the present. She had not stayed on Jato last night, deciding that neither the father nor the son were so direly injured that they would need her until Aimi arranged for them to get home. By that time Eti had no energy left to worry about what might be in the remaining crates of food anyway. Another thing for Aimi to handle with the officials on Corellia. Eti stretched, then was pushed over when the cat nudged her again. "I'm going, I'm going." She stood back up and started to walk home. There was still a need for answers about what was wrong with her, but maybe now she could make better questions to find out what.

Re: It was a long night
Eti tried to stifle her giggles. The whole meeting Pal had been fussing over his gun, or more like the small cannon that he called Sheila. Then he informed them that the Untold Bounty Two would not be available for them during the upcoming mission. Question was, what did he need the ship for? A hot date with Sheila? An armed droid uprising on Teenab? A supply and shakedown run of the ship, while armed? Dino's teasing of Pal had several giggling or chuckling behind hands.
Aimi reigned them in eventually to get to the rest of the points of the meeting.
The Kroons were recovering well, and Aimi was doing what she could to salvage the situation with the charity.
They did have another contract waiting, to carry a shipment of medical supplies from Naboo to Socorro. As the UTB2 would not be available they would be using the Y-8. Either Jenn, or Dino would be flying, the other would be on one of the ops stations. There was still a second ops station to man and the gunnery stations. As far as Pal knew the armament was typical for a mining ship of that type and age. Meaning just about not much.
This is what they will be doing in a couple days. In a week though they were planning a shooting contest on the range. Dino was hoping to get Talon's Angels to perform in the Mistell. They would go over those details at the next meeting.
Also still under consideration was a casino night and Dino wanted Talon's Angels for that too. Then the Date Basket auction was also brought up. Granted this was something that intrigued Eti so she was not going to let Aimi forget about it.
The last thing brought up was the Bacta Heist/Liberation/Theft/Reappropriation. This was something championed by both Jenn and Eti, but first planned by Rando. However neither woman would say that to Aimi when the petite Zeltron asked whose idea it was. For her part Eti was not going mention the missing man's name in front of Pal, especially as Pal stood between her and Megan. Besides, she was still under the order from Tsanthar to not aggravate the droid.
Eti hung back as everyone else left, she wanted to ask Pal if Megan was all right, if she had gotten her note? He told her that Megan had been busy and distracted, but he would remind her to check her messages. She sighed, but there was little she could do on that front. She thanked the droid then went to look for Par and Jenn.

Re: It was a long night
Saltarkkata looked around the station seeking the people she knew, Eti was supposed to have been meeting her 'up top' as they liked to say, but there was no sign of the small Nautolan. There were some there that Eti was known to associate with; Dino, Fou, Jenn, Ansasor, Thaych. The young Wookiee nodded to them all, then turned as the two people that would know the best walked in smelling a bit more coppery than usual. Ren and Par returned her greeting, Par explaining that her friend was resting, but did not elaborate other than suggesting she check in with the next day.
Another entered with them, Salt did not know Koga, nor did the woman talk with her at all. The Wookiee male that showed up later looked familiar, as in she was sure she had seen him before, but it might have been a long time, or Gaarbecca may have simply looked like another male she had met once. Other than brief nods, they did not talk either.
The last person Saltarkkata did not know introduced herself as Jannah Kolleen. She seemed very interested in talking to either Aimi, or Megan, Salt was not sure as she did not think the blue haired woman ever said a name. Clearly she was interested in either the mission they were supposed to do that day, or had another in mind. The Wookiee shook her head, Eti would be very disappointed in her paying attention skills, for that matter so would Anishor. She shook herself and looked up as an alarm sounded.
*Computer Breach*
With that the woman vanished supposedly to check on her cargo. Thaych noted that the station's droids were down. Someone else noticed all the strangers that were suddenly on the station. Aggressive strangers. Pirates? No matter the mercs took them down with a minimum of trouble, working around the incapacitated droids. Dino was stashed somewhere to regain control mechanical control of the station while the rest of them dealt with the invaders.
Eventually the majority of them ended up in hanger one after ensuring the rest of the station was clear. Jannah, who had been observed in a non-confrontational moment with the a couple of the pirates was found and brought in. There they entered a stand off about her motives, every detail needing to be wormed out of her.
She claimed to be wearing an ion grenade. She claimed that if she did not report her boss would send worse people after her. She claimed to be part of Alrak Inc. She claimed to be there to offer protection and assurance after exposing several security breaches. She claimed they took something from one of the cargo holds. Dino returned with her real name, Sareen Jens'n, and knowledge that the cargo hold they tampered with was where Eti's medical area was off the Arena.
Salt did not hear much more as she took the woman to be temporarily held in the crash room until a decision was made as to what to do with her. The Wookiee chose the room where Diferi died, not that the woman cared. After a while Thaych appeared, told Salt she was dismissed that he would take care of the woman. Salt balked only because this would have left him alone with her and he was not acting very pleased. He assured her that spacing the woman was too slow a death, and that he would not shoot an unarmed prisoner. He took her away.

Re: It was a long night
The meeting started off on more somber note than usual with Aimi declaring that the issue that caused the security droids to not act like security droids was being repaired, if it had not been corrected already. She asked Dino to look into Alrak, find out who they were, why did they come after Jato? He promised to let her know what he found, and that he had already started some digging.
What they knew for certain was that the invaders had tried to steal some of the alcohol stock, then use that theft as leverage for hush money to not tell anyone else how to bypass the security. Thaych reported in no uncertain terms that every single one of the invaders was dead, but he was unsure if they had managed to get off any comms first. Dino promised to check on that too.
Eti asked how did the invaders get to Jato? She was told three ships, which were now the property of the station and would be refitted for Jato's use. This would help them keep a lower profile for smaller jobs than the Untold Bounty Two, if only due to the fact they were smaller. She then asked if the med delivery mission had been a hoax, or was it still on a table? Unfortunately Alrak had set that up, as well as interfered with the previous mission to supply the orphanage with food.
They moved on to the proposed activity in a few days, a Shooting Match in the station's lower level range. Betting would be available on the outcomes. Eti offered to help with that with the wish that it be simple bets and payouts. Aimi agreed and said that either she, or Thaych would host the event.
The week after the decided to have a Casino Night in the main floor casino, Aimi would be dealing for the Sabaac game.
To round out the month it was decided to hold the Date Basket Auction on the last day of the month. Eti explained to Dino that this event entailed people making up baskets to reflect a date that they would take another person on. The basket would be auctioned off anonymously so the bidder would not know who was taking them on the date until the basket was won.

September 16th is the shooting match

September 30th is the date basket auction

Re: It was a long night
Shooting matches on Jato usually ended up being fun for Eti, certainly a lot more than Arena matches. Almost no one ever got hurt, so while she was there just in case, she was also able to just enjoy the show. This last show was truly a good one with eight contestants and three ties, two of which went into 'sudden death'.
First up was Dino and Fou, both men were people that she admired and she had a fondness for both. Fou was a friend, and Dino was the closest thing to a grandfather she had ever known, outwardly she cheered them both on, but in her heart Dino was who she favored. Their match proved to be an exciting start ending in a tie, then a tie again to put them in the sudden death rounds. Even then they went a few times until Dino finally hit the target and Fou missed.
The second match was Iliad and Thaych, this time the Mandolorian had her silent approval. She was still not totally sure of Iliad's motives, but Tsanthar had earned her trust. The large man in the heavy blue armor easily out shot the more mysterious individual.
Third match had her loyalties tested again, Ren against Jegy. Jegy was involved with Ivunuvi, and Eti was very glad her friend was happy in the relationship, but Ren was her father and her heart chose over Ivu's. Their match was the second to reach the tie breaker stage with Jegy edging out Ren in the end.
The fourth match of the first round pitted Jenn against Ghaal. The armored Ithorian quietly trounced her friend in the match much to Eti's dismay, but not to her surprise. Even playing games, Ghaal did not play games.
In the second round the fifth match was between Dino and Thaych, again she silently cheered on Dino though she was becoming concerned for him. The older man did prevail and would move on to the final round.
Second round, sixth match had Jegy go up against Ghaal. Now she could cheer on the Sullestan and did so, and while he won the match, something about him caught her attention.
The seventh match in the third and final round put Jegy and Dino together. This time she was to concerned about both men to pick. Jegy had less rest than Dino, and his hand was clearly bothering him. Dino, who usually ensured he kept himself 'well lubricated' while on Jato was also showing signs of strain. They ended in a tie, then struggled through the tie breaker into the sudden death round. Dino won, but perhaps not by some Dino miracle as by this time Jegy's aim was so unsteady she debated stopping him from firing all together.
The last shot had not finished ringing when Eti sent Ren to check on Dino as she hurried to see to Jegy. She convinced Jegy to come sit with her, while the champion of the night, Dino, was sent off to sleep by Ren.
Eti also enjoyed the chance to socialize with the people there to just watch the event as well as the shooters once they were done. So while she had Jegy at the table her announcement of having fresh cookies baked by Par attracted most of the remaining audience and contestants. Aimi and Fou wandered over, Jenn appeared, Davyn ambled closed with his droid Kato, an Arcona by the name of Yirr'li with his droid Bones also became curious about the cookies. Soon Eti was surrounded and she lost track of Ren, Par, Ghaal, Dino, Thaych, Iliad, and Daradyn.
Eventually Ren came looking for her, it was time to go, most people had already wandered off, and he stated it was their turn. Realizing how weary she had become, Eti agreed and handed the container with any remaining cookies to Jenn. Quietly it amused her this tradition of bringing cookies to the shooting matches and leaving the rest with Jenn.

Re: It was a long night
Ivunuvi was not often up to Port Jato, but this was a time she felt she should as it was her employee that was the cause of three people missing the meeting tonight. She was not sure what calamity had befallen Eti to have her come in and order the 'worst wine' at Keeper's, or why Haali decided that Piket's was a proper substitute for said wine.
One small drink was enough to fell her Nautolan friend, but Eti had low tolerance for toxins. Par took a bare sip to see what she was drinking and it made him immediately ill too if not anywhere hear as badly as his daughter. Why Iliad decided to take a straw to the remaining liquid in the glass she will never know, but where the first two were brought home, she sent him to Agathon's hospital to recoup.
She spent a few minutes talking to Dino about it, then sat down when Aimi started the meeting, might as well learn enough to tell Eti later she reasoned. Aimi started with congratulating Dino on his win, then explaining that the take from the contest was enough to pay half the bill for replacing the primary security computer. They did not say what had happened to it, but several of the others nodded knowingly.
In a couple days there were plans to hold a casino night up at Port Jato with a Sabaac game as the centerpiece. Aimi said she would deal for the game, and that she would arrange for the entertainers, keeping in mind that Dino preferred skimpy outfits. Ivu herself was asked that if Cotan could not tend the bar, would she? The Ithorian agreed, mainly as she had been the one to bring the subject up. Dino, Jenn, and Ghaal offered to work with Thaych and the station's droids as security.
The last of the business for the night was about the date baskets Eti had told her about that would be the following week. Those would be collected the night of the auction and should include hints about the type of date the donator would provide. Ivunuvi also liked that the date was to be blind, meaning that the person bidding on the basket will not know who their date would be until after they purchased it.
Ivu left the station considering what she would put into a basket to lure a certain male?
