Not Sure What To Do

After trying the NGE era, I like the idea of this game, but was not on board with the combat. I love older tab-target MMOs. Slow and deliberate gameplay is what I'm after. If people complain that combat is "slow and boring" that's a good sign that I'll probably enjoy it. I loved classic EQ, and I my current game is Embers Adrift, but to avoid burnout, I generally bounce between two. I've decided to give SWG a shot for the second slot.

I was drawn to this sever due to its unique setting and less reliance on buffs. I get the very basics, but beyond that, I have no idea what I'm doing, or what I should try to level, or build towards. I kind of just want to chill out in the sandbox and see where it takes me. Any Advice?

If you enjoy the sandbox, EiF is definitely the place for you! It's designed so you can have the adventure you want to have and explore the galaxy while doing it. You won't see main/campaign quests, but you can certainly pick up various quests from many different NPCs across the planets. With so much to do and see right from the start, it can definitely be a bit overwhelming.

To start, I'd pick a Profession and some Skills that sound interesting. Have you always wanted to be a Bounty Hunter? Maybe you're more the rogue-ish Smuggler type? Your Profession will govern what you do, but you can change it at any time if you want to try something else. Skills, meanwhile, complement your Profession and govern how you do it. You can focus on an entire melee build, a ranged-only build, a hybrid, or something in between. You do only have a set amount of Skill Points though, so you will have to pick and choose what you want your mastery to be in. Again, choose what sounds fun to you. Like your Profession, Skills can be surrendered at any time if you want to try something else. If combat isn't really your thing, experiment with the various crafting professions and maybe start up a shop to offer your goods to other players. There are a lot of possibilities to be had!

Once you do have your feet under you, and find a Profession/Skill combination you enjoy, the Galaxy does open up quite a bit. You can run high-end missions for ideal loot, join other players in Instances (dungeons), fight World Bosses, or even join the weekly PvP event in the form of the Galactic Civil War. There are also Collections to be found, rewarding unique items, as well as seasonal events that occur every couple months.

If you haven't done so already, I'd recommend two additional things for you to help get going:

1. Check out the New Player Guide and FAQ. It has a lot of information to help guide folk just starting out.
2. Join the Community and ask questions! Aurora Beach on Corellia and New Zeltros on Naboo are great starting hubs for new players.
   • Join the EiF Discord. Folk tend to be more chatty during the day on Discord, and it's a great way to get to know people, ask questions, and organize events or group content
   • Check out a Guild! Guilds are a great way to jump in with a core group of people that are always happy to help folk along and be involved. You can check out the Guild Listings here and see if any of them match what you're looking for in a group.
